Guided tour in Martina Franca in Puglia discovering a lovely town rich in art and culture, immersed in the Itria Valley.
Meet the guide in Piazza XX Settembre next to the Cinema Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, very close to the old gate of the historical centre.
You will learn about the origins and history of the town, then we’ll visit the Ducal Palace, residence of the duke’s family of Martina Franca, which preserves impressive interiors completely frescoed.
Next stop will be the Basilica of San Martino, the main church re-built in a Late Baroque style and dedicated to the Patron Saint.
Walking along the alleys we will meet elegant noble palaces which made the Martina Baroque style famous, and you will know something about this local architecture.
In the end of the tour we’ll see some defensive towers, which were part of the previous city walls, and we’ll have a look at Lama district, considered the most ancient area of the town.
